Mpokolo Congo, founded in 2017, has been a non-profit organization since 2021. Based in Belgium, it supports in the city of Kananga (Kasai region in Congo D.R.) the operation of Mpokolo wa Muoyo (“Source of Life”) a shelter where mainly homeless, refugee and neglected children find a warm home before being reintegrated back into their families. That center also plays a major role in reintegrating child soldiers from the region. It is run by Buizingen resident Ivo Vanvolsem and about fifteen dedicated employees.

Better weather is finally approaching and that means: enjoying an aperitif in the garden, barbecuing with family and friends, … and then a glass of wine often hits the spot.

Should you wish to order wine, you can support Mpokolo-Congo thereby by purchasing your bottle(s) at Wijnvoordeel via www.trooper.be/mpokolocongo. They support us throughout the year by donating 3.66% commission on every purchase made with them through our Trooper page. But this month they are doing an extra effort!

The whole month of May they are giving us €10 EXTRA COMMISSION on every purchase of at least €40. For that price you can easily have 4 or 5 bottles of wine. But maybe you’re having a (communion) party soon and could use some bubbles to serve or give as a present? Even then you can visit Wijnvoordeel.be, because contrary to what their name suggests, you can also find cava, champagne and prosecco. Thank you for thinking of us when ordering wine, champagne, prosecco,….

Call: suitcases for Kananga

In February, we made an appeal to bring in any unused suitcases you had left at home.

We can now report that we were able to collect no less than 45 suitcases, which we filled with backpacks, clothing for children and adults, toys, shoes, boots, …

These suitcases are now being prepared for shipment to Congo at the end of March.

In the meantime, the valises arrived safe and sound in Kananga. [April 11, 2023]
